New Yorkers

An interesting group of people to say the least.

Your words found me!

New York City is a crazy place with a whole lot of character. It’s packed with things to see, smell, hear, and feel. There is so much going on that sometimes it’s hard to find anything to focus on. I had that trouble a little bit as I was roaming around the city shooting things that I found interesting. These are photos of the few signs that caught my attention. Can anyone tell me what that means? Is there anyone […]

The Sky is Burning

In New York City. Obviously manipulated.

NYC cops standing around

I have no idea why all these cops are standing around Penn Station. I thought about asking but just didn’t.

New York Buildings

The concrete jungle is what they call it. I think it makes interesting pictures…

Rafiqi

I have a love for street vendor food. I have a pretty strong stomach and can eat almost anything so generally I’m unconcerned about eating ‘street meat’. At this vendor I just got some chicken wrapped in Pita bread. It was tasty!

Stressed on the Jersey Turnpike

I missed my exit while on the Jersey Turnpike so when I tried to get myself turned around it took a little time and effort. It was raining and there was a lot of traffic which added to my stress level. I probably shouldn’t have been fiddling with my camera, as that was the reason I missed my exit in the first place!

Stairway to Heaven

This is actually part of a bridge called the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. A very cool half bridge/half tunnel, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel connects Virginia’s Eastern Shore with the Virginia mainland at Virginia Beach near Norfolk. I’m planning to do a post on deepdisch.net about this with some more pics.

Portraits of Nichelle

A few weeks ago I got a chance to shoot some portraits of my friend Nichelle in a studio with some borrowed lights. Here are a few from that shoot! Isn’t she gorgeous? Special thanks to Angie for sharing her studio time and Lena for sharing her lights! You guys rock!

Growing Kids Sale

I had a chance to volunteer at an amazing event a few weeks ago. It’s called the Growing Kids Sale and it’s put on by some family friends. Basically it’s a giant indoor yard sale with about 1200 families contributing items. It’s a huge event and is growing every year. I just helped out a little but I was amazed at the organization of the event. It’s a well oiled machine with incredible attention paid to the details. I walked […]

Apple Green Sweetness

This was a cool model car that came by my table when I was volunteering at the Growing Kids sale in Fort Smith, Arkansas in April.

Family of Four Riding a Motorcycle

I saw this family several times when I was in San Miguel de Allende, last fall. I snapped this one in haste and i’m not super fond of it, but a friend of mine loves it, so I went ahead and posted it here.

Circus Clown

Here’s another shot from San Miguel de Allende. I went to a small circus and this was the clown who ran around trying to sabotage the other performers because he was jealous.

Thoth in NYC

So I was doing my usual perusing of the internet, when I came across this post on Noumenon’s blog about a street performer in New York City. I recognized the picture from the post and knew I had taken a picture of the same guy the last time I was in New York. Here it is: He hangs out in Angel Tunnel in Central Park and does something he calls “prayforming”. Check out his website to learn more about him […]

Jarris at George’s

I got to see one of my favorite bands a few nights ago and as I often do, I took my camera! Shooting bands is really a lot of fun but it’s pretty hard work both physically and mentally. When I shoot a band, my goal is to try to capture the passion of the band in a photo. Jarris always plays with a ton of energy and passion, so I really enjoy shooting them. It helps that they are […]
