Naked Cats!

]]> Awhile back my mother decided to start raising a unique breed of cats called “Naked” sphynx, called that because they actually have little or no hair. Perfect for people who are allergic to cats!

So anyway, I snapped a few pics when I was in town last month.

Livestock show in Perry, GA

]]> So last weekend I went to a livestock show with fellow Portfolio Center photographer CJ Isaac. It was fun and interesting and obviously a good place to get some fun pictures.

What amazed me about the pigs was how muscular they were. I guess it makes perfect sense, but I always thought of pigs as fat. These pigs were ripped!

]]> OK, so I was shooting some pictures out on location and came across this couple giving away some puppies. I had to dig deep for the will power to not bring this little guy home with me.

This isn’t a great picture, but I couldn’t risk trying to get a better one because I might not have been able to resist his cuteness. I refused even to pick him up. He’s a mix between Golden Retriever and Collie. I love the black nose!

I guess what this really means is that I need to hurry up and bring Charlee to Atlanta!

Maine Media Workshops Open House

]]> On Sunday the Maine Media Workshops had their second annual Open House. This is the event where people can come from anywhere in the world to check out the facilities and learn about what happens here. I was pretty busy most of the day, but I did manage to snap a few pictures of the Dog Portrait studio. This was setup using Canon’s wifi system to send pictures straight to the computer as they were taken and then they would be quickly touched up, printed, and given to the person about 5 minutes later.

]]> I was inspired by a photographer from Seattle named Erin Vey to try taking some nice portraits of Charlie. I was trying to capture some personality and for those of you who know my pooch, I think I did.

I used autofocus and a few of these aren’t quite perfect. oh well…

She was a terrible model. She was camera shy and wouldn’t hold still. It was fun though.

]]> One year for christmas all I wanted was a dog. I begged for it. Finally my parents said ok and I searched through the newspaper ads for free puppies and found a few I wanted to check out. So I made appointments to visit each litter but I only made it to the first house. I immediately fell in love with my new puppy I named Kody.

Kody was a Boxer and some type of Terrier mix. He was a bit of a troublesome dog. He tore up anything and everything within reach and was not very well behaved even after dog obedience classes. He grew up to be medium sized but was extremely energetic. We didn’t have a fenced in yard so I kept him on a chain in the backyard with a doghouse. I would take him over to the park for walks all the time and I used to hook his leash to my bicycle and ride around at the local park with him and he never got tired of running.

One day he got a little excited and pulled the bike too hard for me to control and I crashed into a big rock and the leash came off. He started chasing some people at the park. One of the people was on crutches and he fended him off by hitting him with the crutch. I defended my dog, but honestly, I think he just wanted to bite some people.

I was more careful after that, but he still had a few incidents with people. He bit my mom once or twice. One day a random person came by to pick up a refridgerator that my dad was selling. It was in the backyard so I moved Kody around to the front yard and chained him to a tree. The stranger came back around and Kody lunged at him and the chain broke. He was in attack mode for some reason and really took a good bite of the guy’s hand. I got him settled down and put back in the backyard, but the cops got involved and animal control got involved and he got taken away for testing for rabies.

My parents decided it was probably best for him to be put to sleep because we were not able to keep him under control. He was more dog than I was able to handle. They talked to me about it and I was pretty upset but I saw the logic and went to the animal control facility for one last goodbye. I gave him his tennis ball and I cried.

Cute puppy needs a home!

]]> hey there, I know of a dog that needs a new home ASAP. The people who used to own it were not very good doggy parents and she wasn’t getting any attention at all. So now my friend is in possesion of it and she lives in a very strict no pets apartment so the dog needs a new home very soon. Roughly 3 months old, very cute Australian Shepard mix with one blue eye and one brown. She is really sweet and it doesn’t appear that she is going to get very big.
