John Edwards is a douchebag

Today John Edwards announced that he is endorsing Barack Obama for the nomination of president. My thoughts: too little way too late. What took him so long? He voted several weeks ago, what was left to decide? Almost every other democrat in the country has already had to decide who to support. Obama is already the presumptive nominee so this endorsement really has little value to Obama in beating out Clinton. Honestly, he could have thrown his support behind Obama 4 months ago when he ended his bid and it could have saved the democratic party from this fiasco that now dominates the daily political news.

Of course it will help Obama in the general election, but every democrat will support the nominee anyway, so this really doesn’t make a difference in any major way.

I never really liked Edwards. He just never seemed genuine to me. Then after his wife was diagnosed with cancer he decided to keep running for president anyway. That showed me what type of guy he is and it’s not the the guy I would want rrepresenting our country. Anyway, John Edwards sucks and I think he should just go back to being a lawyer.

UPDATE: Newsweek agrees with me pretty much exactly.

Lena - You’re funny.

Don’t get me started on Obama. I can’t stand the guy. He needs to get on the next plane out of the country and take Bush with him. In fact…take all the politicians with him…..

he he he

Angela Gray - I think John Edwards is still hoping for a VP spot, and was scared he was going to pick the loser. Only now that Obama is the “presumptive nominee” does he feel comfortable enough to support just one candidate. Also, an interesting poll I saw the other day showed that many democrats (something like 30-40%) would rather vote for McCain than their 2nd favorite democratic candidate. I doubt that would become reality in November, but who knows, it has been a crazy election season already.

Pam - I agree with you that John Edwards timing was pretty sucky–however for very different reasons. I attribute his timing to seeing which way the wind was blowing. Were it Hillary that was emerging as the presumptive nominee, I’ll bet you that is where he’d be throwing around his “super” delegate wieght. Same reaction I had to Tom Allen of Maine for his timing. I don’t mind if they come out for a candidate that isn’t my choice (for the record, Obama isn’t my first choice), but at least have some integrity about when you do it.

kendrick - well of course he was waiting, that’s my point. He was too cowardly to actually take a position one way or the other until after the dust had pretty much settled. I’m glad he supported Obama, but his endorsement actually would have meant something several months ago.
