Herostatus Productions, my side job.
I have a pretty great side job. I am the CEO and founder of {Herostatus Productions}, a small video production company. I keep myself very busy with projects. For example, over the last 4 days here is what I have done: I worked at a college basketball game, I worked a college baseball game, I recorded a piano recital of a world class performer, recorded the concert of one of my favorite bands, Green Day, and by doing those things I earned some much needed cash (OK, so it was actually only a Green Day cover band that my friend started, not the real Green Day). I’m not a genious with this stuff but I am professional and do the best work I can and the result is that I generally have plenty of projects on my plate at any given time.
So here is an update on some of the projects I mentioned in {a much earlier post}.
I am done shooting my short film “The Motive” and have started to edit. A few nights ago I worked on a scene for a long time then had an application error and lost all the stuff I did. It killed me. I just felt like throwing in the towel. This project has been pretty torturous since the beginning. I’ve fought writers block, disappearing co-writers, trouble with cameras, locations, and actors schedules, weather has been very problematic, and now problems with the editing. It just really knocks the wind out of you. I also stupidly thought I could cram a 15 minute story into 5 mins. That’s not gonna happen. This is perhaps the poorest foresight I’ve had in a while. I will give credit to my assitant director Daniel Hanna and to my actors Jason Engstrom, Jenna Kirk, Athena Rahm, and Kris Stoker for being so willing to go along with my vision. Thanks guys!
The Six Hung Sprung Live DVD is complete and available for sale (just ask me if you want one). But the sad news is that they broke up. So the chance of my work getting widely seen is pretty slim. At least I got paid. You can {watch the music video} for free!
I just gave my demo reel a makeover and added some new content. I don’t have it uploaded yet, but will link to it when I do.
Basketball season is winding down, only 2 more games, and Baseball is just starting up. These are fun to work at because the pay is good and it is a pretty fun way to spend an afternoon. At baseball I work the instant replay machine and in baseball highlights are few and far between so I usually just sit there and watch the game and eat peanuts.
I am about to tackle another major project. I am going to edit together 8 episodes of an Art Show that will be on a 2 DVD set and sold at home school conventions. It’s already shot, I just need to edit and build the dvd’s. That should occupy my time for awhile and hopefully will bring some money in.
I edited the commercials {1} and {2} for a local food place called Foghorns. They turned out ok but I don’t really take any credit for them because they weren’t my projects, I just put the pieces together like the director told me to.
I am eventually going to edit a promo video for the Northwest Arkansas Rollergirls from some video I shot at their most recent bout. I’m not getting paid for it upfront, but I think it will be a fun project and could lead to plenty of paid work down the line.
I just burned my sister’s wedding to DVD.
It doesn’t look like I will be editing another Peace Festival promo video this year.
I never heard back from the Earth Day people about their promo.
Back in Jan. I shot and edited a {new music hall commercial}.
And most exciting of all, I will be working with and for somebody who could very well be the next president of the United States, to create some videos for their website and possible white house run. I’m not going to talk about it yet, but soon you will be enlightened.
I’ve gotta edit the piano recital and burn the green day cover band concert to dvd pretty soon.
That is all for now. Which, in my opinion, is plenty.

Busy, Busy!!! no wonder you don’t have time to come see us!!
I’m really curious to know about the presidential thing!
