LA: Day 5

I had one major mission left to accomplish on my trip out here. I needed to check out Hollywood, get a pic of the famous sign, and watch a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live. I accomplished it all!

I drove up and checked out Burbank first, where I was amazed by the mountains overlooking the town. It was really beautiful and this pic does it no justice.

I then drove by Universal Studios but didn’t even get out of the car. I found a great little coffee shop and did a little people watching and studied the map for a few mins. Then it was off to Hollywood Blvd. This area was extremely touristy, as might be expected, but I had fun. I took tons of pics and just checked out the shops. I actually didn’t buy anything because I’m broke. I talked to various street people including some guys selling rap cds and a camera crew to see what they were up to and what advice they might have for somebody in my situation. They were nice and gave me some good reasons to be optimistic.

I took pics of a few stars on the sidewalk.

I walked over to Sunset but it was pretty boring. I’m thinking I must have been at the wrong part.

Then, back to Hollywood to get in line for Jimmy Kimmel. Once the sun went down it started getting really cold and we stood in line for about an hour and twenty mins before finally making our way in. The show was great. Wilmar Valderama and Michael Irvin were the guests and Daughtry was the band. I enjoyed it. Jimmy Kimmel is by far the best late night talk show host.

That’s really about it. I headed back down to Laguna Hills for the night and packed up my gear for early exit.

I’ll probably write more about my conclusions of the trip in a few days.
